Patient care can be difficult sometimes, and over the years, I have come across tips and tricks of the trade that make patient care more manageable. The tips and tricks of the trade that I am going to share have come from past mentors, instructors, fellow nurses, and various other health care professionals. Patients usually feel vulnerable and apprehensive when a person comes into their room to perform a procedure. Therefore, it is vital that the patient be informed and educated about the procedure prior to the procedure. Most importantly they must consent to the procedure. Fear and anxiety can be significantly reduced by simply taking the time to talk with the patient. Once they understand what is going to happen, they will most likely become engaged and actively participate in the procedure.
